Google Ends Continuous Scrolling for Search Results Page

In October 2021, Google announced the launch of a continuous scrolling feature on its search results page. The goal was to make the search results page function as a single, continuous page where new results would appear as the user scrolled down.

It seems that Google has reconsidered this feature and is now working to remove it from mobile search results pages after having already removed it entirely from desktop search results.

In other words, the continuous or infinite scrolling feature allowed users to keep scrolling through search results without needing to click on page numbers at the bottom of the Google search results page.

On June 25, Google will remove the continuous scrolling feature from desktop search results, followed by mobile search results in the coming months.

The "Next" button will appear at the bottom of the desktop search page, and the "More results" button will appear in mobile search.

Google stated that this change aims to display search results faster for more queries, rather than automatically loading results that users did not explicitly request. Automatically loading more results did not significantly increase user satisfaction with the search, according to Google.
